Kmart shoppers go wild for $15 camping and beach 'essential': 'Best purchase ever'

Shoppers are flocking to Kmart this summer to purchase a $15 item that’s been described as an “essential” for camping, caravanning and spending time at the beach. While the EVA Beach Tote went viral when it hit stores earlier this year, Kmart has recently dropped a brand new range of colours as the weather begins to heat up.

In addition to white, pink and navy, shoppers can purchase the bag in blue, purple, yellow, sage and blush. The bag is made from durable ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) which makes it easy to clean and maintain and is described online as the “perfect companion for sun-soaked days and seaside escapes”.

Many shoppers have said the item is great for camping when you need to carry your towel, toiletries and change of clothes to the bathroom, or to store your laundry on the road.

“I got one to take to the pool and another for dirty washing,” one person shared, while another added, “Best dirty clothes basket then carry to the laundry”.

“I absolutely love mine! It holds so so much!” a third replied, with someone else writing, “Best purchase ever! I packed mine the other day to head out to the lake - had like five towels, nappies, spare clothes for toddler, two water bottles”.

Shoppers share surprising uses for the bag

Kmart’s EVA Beach Tote is perfect for a day at the beach, however, others have been using it for grocery shopping, attending sporting events, or storage around the house.

“I use mine weekly for groceries, been amazing so far and I want to get more but my local hasn't had any in stock,” one shopper commented, followed by another who said, “I load it up with fruit and veggies from the markets”.

"We use one for shoes under the end of our bed,” a different user shared, while someone else wrote, “I use it for swimming lessons and getaways. So much room and we have it full with drink bottles, towels, spare clothes and I pop my handbag in it too”.

“Best $15 you will spend, have used mine for sports days and beach days. Holds heaps and don't care how dirty it gets just wipe/hose it off,” another replied.

How much can the bag hold?

While the EVA beach tote has a maximum weight capacity of 10kg, you’d be surprised by just how much it can carry. TikTok creator @elodie_rose_home recently shared a video showcasing how the bag managed to fit all of her family essentials for a day at the beach.

She packed three towels, a portable speaker, two sand spades, a bottle of water, a hat, two plastic beach tennis rackets, a pair of sunglasses, and a separate makeup bag containing sunscreen, deodorant and hair accessories.

“EVA really is a one-stop beach tote. Comfortable to hold/carry, plastic so it’s easy to wipe clean, holes in to let the sand out, and big enough to fit all our essentials - I’m so happy with it,” she wrote.
