Kmart shopper's clever bathroom hack for common hygiene concern: 'Brilliant idea'
If you are worried about bench clutter, this hack is also for you.
A Kmart shopper has shared a 'brilliant' bathroom hack that leaves her kids' bathroom looking that little bit nicer and clutter-free. The hack requires the $29 Linear Cosmetic Countertop Cabinet, which is usually used for skin care or makeup, but in this case, is used to hide away three electric toothbrushes and other dental care.
The Kmart shopper took to Facebook to share her handiwork, writing, "So I hate that my kid’s bathroom is also the bathroom used by guests and partially hate that their toothbrushes are out on the vanity, so I did some alterations to this Kmart makeup storage unit. Thought I would share in case toothbrushes are driving anyone else crazy."

Praise for 'brilliant' Kmart bathroom hack
Other Kmart shoppers loved the idea, with one saying, "That’s a brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing. Also, if you have a loo in the bathroom, it’s good to have your toothbrushes protected from flush vapours!"
The original poster replied, "Exactly, flush vapour grosses me out."
"I absolutely agree and love this!" another said. "Adding to the cart now!"
"Great idea, closed off to the elements [especially] if you have someone over who flushes the toilet with toilet seat up. Yuck," a third added.
"Cord management at its finest, great idea," someone else said.
"That so smart," another added.
Warning over Kmart vanity hack
Many warned, however, that the chargers could be a fire hazard as there's no airflow, however, the OP said that she only charges the toothbrushes once a week for a couple of hours and doesn't have them running all the time.
"Those cords still being wrapped up is a major fire hazard, and so are all the cords squished into a small area," someone said.
One person also raised the concern of having water dripping into the power boards. They wrote, "Just be careful that the toothbrushes aren’t dripping water down into the base where your power board is.
"With electric toothbrushes, if not dried properly, they do drip water, and I’m concerned it’ll run into the hole you have going into the compartment where the power board is."
Why you should always shut the toilet lid
If you can't be bothered making your own little Kmart cabinet for your toothbrushes, perhaps consider simply shutting the toilet lid to keep things cleaner – though it won't help with the issue of clutter, I know.

According to researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder, germs and bacteria that can transmit infectious diseases (not to mention whatever's actually in the toilet) can spray far and wide when you don't shut the lid before flushing a toilet.
More specifically, these droplets can reach heights of over 1.5 metres (!!), landing on your toothbrush, towels, countertops and whatever else is near the toilet.
