Kmart fans love this kitchen appliance that's less than half the cost of competitors

Kmart fans love the retailer's $79 bread maker, which is less than half the price of some of its competitors - exactly what customers need in a cost-of-living crisis where a single loaf of bread can set you back upwards of $6. People are so excited about the gadget they're sharing their appreciation for it online, with some saying they've had theirs for years.

In a Facebook group, one shopper wrote, "Hi Kmart lovers, anyone looking for a great value bread maker do not go past the Kmart bread maker. Bought mine about 4 months ago and love love love it, bread comes out perfect every time, easy to use and clean, highly recommend this product to everyone."

Rave reviews for Kmart bread maker

Many others agreed, with one user writing, "I got mine originally to make pizza dough which it does beautifully. It makes great raisin toast loaves and the dough for cinnamon scrolls."

"I'll have to look now," another said.

"Now I have to buy one of those too lol," a third added.

"I've had mine for nearly four years," someone else shared.

"I didn’t know they had breadmakers! Fantastic," yet another said.

On Kmart's website, many others shared glowing reviews, with one user writing, "It works as well as our expensive one that died," adding it was an "impressive price".

"Fantastic little machine," another said. "We use it every day and it bakes beautiful bread. It shakes a bit so don’t put it near the edge of the table lol. Excellent for the price and no more additives in our bread. Huge thumbs up from us!"

Others said it "makes a perfect loaf every time" and "you truly can't go wrong buying this product".

Shoppers share drawbacks of bread maker

However, it seems like some people have had issues with the bread maker, including content creator @foodstuffthings who shared her experience in a TikTok video. However, she stressed that the issue was more due to user error than the bread maker itself.

"Welcome to my absolutely chaotic first time using the Kmart bread maker," she begins the video, jokingly adding, "Look, I just want to start off by saying it was not an error with the bread maker, it was an error with the user (who is also the bread maker)."

She shared that she "winged it" with the recipe, which led to not-so-great results, with her bread coming out too hard for her liking.

One of her commenters wrote, "I have this machine. Bread has always turned out like this for me (just using cheap plain flour). I have found that it tastes absolutely delightful as a toastie. I don't use it for fresh sandwiches."

It seems many people have been unable to make the bread maker work for them, with another shopper saying, "I have this bread maker and every time I try make it it’s awful."

Others such as @amyymichellle, have raved about the machine, saying she always gets "perfect" loaves from it.

I fear I'd lean more into the camp of those making bad bread, so I shall stick to buying it!
