'Fantastic' Kmart interior design hack wows DIY fans
A woman’s incredible interior design DIY skills have left people in awe after sharing how she completely transformed a simple Kmart timber bench into something much more stylish.
Michelle took to a popular Kmart hacks group on Facebook to share photos of her new creation, and it was quickly flooded with comments praising her efforts.
“I really wanted to find a quick and easy way to make a macrame bench seat,” she wrote in the group, posting photos and a video of how she did it.
Michelle used the Kmart wooden bench seat, for $59, and three macrame placemats also from Kmart and just $4 each.

“I hand stitched the placemats together to create the macrame top and used a piece of foam cut to size with a handmade calico cover,” she explained.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Michelle it’s not the first time she has used a Kmart macrame for a hack.
“I had already made bags from the macrame placemats and loved the look of them,” she tells us.
“I knew the macrame table runner wasn’t wide enough and not the right texture to cover the bench seat so then realised the placemats were the exact width when placed across.”
The post was flooded with comments with plenty of people calling her idea ‘genius’.
“So clever that looks fantastic,” one person commented.
“I love this, it'll looks so good, well done,” another wrote.
“Looks fantastic,” was a third comment.
While one person said: “One of the best hacks I’ve seen.”
