Kim Kardashian posted a photo of Melania Trump to her Instagram Stories Monday in a movie social media users seem to assume is a revelation about her political allegiance to Donald Trump.

Kardashian posted the photo of Melania in her inauguration outfit, a custom ensemble by Adam Lippes that the internet has been hard at work turning into memes. Kardashian’s edit of the photo of Melania notably meant cropping out Trump—but that hasn’t stopped the internet speculation that she’s been “waiting” to make her support of the newly sworn-in president known.

“She’s been waiting to let that out!” one X user wrote alongside a screenshot of Kardashian’s post. Another posited that the post, which was not accompanied with any text, made it “clear who [Kardashian] voted for.”

Not every user is jumping to conclusions, however, as one person pointed out that she “cropped that felon out” because she wanted “to admire only Melania’s fashion.”

Where Kardashian (and the rest of her famous family’s) political leanings lie has been a subject of speculation for years. The reality show clan remained silent during election season, not revealing their thoughts on the Trump vs. Kamala Harris match up. But after the election, Kardashian has shared other posts that made fans question whether she secretly supported Trump, such as her X video post that shows her playing with one of Elon Musk’s Tesla robots.

When Trump’s White House wingman Musk thanked Kardashian for the post in the replies, telling the reality TV star, “I’m glad you like him,” social media users immediately interpreted the post and exchange as a key clue about her politics. She doubled-down with a second post from inside an unreleased gold Tesla Cybertruck.

As the ex-wife of fervent Trump supporter and embattled rap star Kanye West, Kardashian has largely steered clear of any obvious Trump support herself, and publicly supported Joe Biden over Trump in 2020. But she did memorably work with Trump to pass the First Step Act for prison reform during his first term, even posing with him in the Oval Office.

Following that meeting, she expressed her “love” for Melania Trump to Jimmy Kimmel, who joked in response, “I know, we love Melania. She needs to be freed.”
