Khloé Kardashian Says She Doesn't Take Cheating by Exes Personally: ‘I Know That Was About Them’
Kardashian's relationships with Lamar Odom and Tristan Thompson were both plagued by rumored infidelity
Khloé Kardashian isn’t taking the blame for her former partners' rumored bad behavior.
The 40-year-old reality star struggled with reported infidelity both in her marriage to Lamar Odom and in her relationship with the father of her children, Tristan Thompson. But the mother of two isn’t letting that define how she feels about herself.
“I know what was done to me was not about me,” Kardashian told Jay Shetty on the Wednesday, Jan. 22, episode of her Khloé in Wonderland podcast. “I know that was about them, and they have past trauma that they've never healed from.”
The Good American founder explained that when she would ask exes why they made the decision to cheat, they’d respond, “‘Oh, my parents or I came from a broken house.’ It's always something like that. It's never about the immediate relationship.”
Kardashian — mom to daughter True Thompson, 6, and son Tatum Thompson, 2 — also acknowledged the help of her loved ones to get through the struggles of her failed relationships.
“If it wasn't for my family, my core circle and also my relationship with God… I just learned it wasn’t about me,” she said.
Kardashian said she also realized that instead of viewing the cheating as something that was done to her, she’s been able to realize that the incidents were actually about her exes.
“I was used for that person to learn life lessons,” she said, adding that she always tried to treat the offender with compassion and kindness.
“No matter what someone did to me, I was never manipulative or trying to do the same thing back,” she explained.

Kardashian and Odom met in 2009 and got married within a month. Their marriage was plagued with infidelity rumors, and in 2013 Kardashian filed for divorce. Similarly, Kardashian and Thompson met in 2016 and welcomed their first child together amidst rumors of infidelity in 2018. The former couple rekindled their romance multiple times, ultimately calling it quits in late 2021 after Thompsonfathered a child with Maralee Nichols while still in a relationship with Kardashian.
But Kardashian is determined not to take that “baggage” into her next relationship, explaining she is a "hopeless romantic" who believes in the "fairytale."
However, the reality star isn't focusing on romance right now.
“I'm not dating because my relationship with my kids just is everything to me,” Kardashian explained. “I feel so fulfilled. And I also love that I've taken about three years off of dating. And I feel like I've really got to know myself on a deeper level.” She added her hopes that her next relationship will result in her “forever partner."
