If you thought the value meal wars were over, think again. Since spring, all the major fast food players have been giving their customers what they’ve been begging for—fast food meals at what they believe should be fast food prices rather than eye-popping prices.

The chains have fallen on the $5 price tag for value, usually with a four-item meal. Wendy’s got the ball rolling first with its $5 Biggie Bag. Taco Bell and Burger King joined, each with their own $5 meals. And finally, McDonald’s joined in with a $5 value meal.

Now, KFC is ramping up its $5 value meal game, too.

KFC’s New $5 Value Meals

KFC just added two new value meals to its Taste of KFC Deals menu, which already includes a $20 family value meal.

"As customers are looking for more value from brands, we're expanding our Taste of KFC lineup with new KFC fan favorites like our nuggets and Famous Bowls, each for just $5," said Nick Chavez, chief marketing officer for KFC U.S. "These Taste of KFC Deals offer three choices – with something for everyone – at an incredible price."

These are the three $5 value meals currently available:

  • (New) $5 KFC Chicken Nuggets: Eight chicken nuggets, fries, and two sauces.

  • (New) $5 Famous Bowl with KFC Chicken Nuggets: Mashed potatoes, sweet corn, and KFC's 100 percent white meat chicken nuggets, layered together and drizzled with home-style gravy and topped with a blend of three shredded cheeses.

  • $5 Two-Piece Drum & Thigh: Two pieces of fried chicken (drum and thigh), mashed potatoes and gravy, and a buttery biscuit.

The $5 meals aren't the only new additions to the menu. KFC is also adding these digital deals, which are available only through KFC's website or app.

  • $19.99 (40-Piece) Saucy Nuggets Party Pack: A choice of four Saucy Nuggets flavors.

  • $15 Sandwich + Nuggets Meal for Two: Two sandwiches (Classic or Spicy), 10 nuggets, two individual sides, and two medium drinks.

  • $15 (5-piece) Chicken on the Bone Meal for Two: Five pieces of chicken, two individual sides, two medium drinks, and two biscuits.

  • 50 Percent Off Chicken Sandwiches: 50 percent off a KFC Chicken Sandwich. Limit one per transaction.

KFC may not be following the four-item formula the other fast food restaurants have set up, but the $5 meals and the digital deals add up to money saved. Just make sure to order a drink, too, because most of KFC's deals don't include one.
