Kevin Kline Fans ‘Didn’t Recognize’ the Actor During His Latest Appearance
Fans were thrilled to see acclaimed actor Kevin Kline chatting with Jimmy Fallon on a recent episode of The Tonight Show—even if not everybody recognized him at first.
The 77-year-old star stopped by the late night talk show on Monday, Nov. 4, to promote his new Apple TV+ series Disclaimer, taking the opportunity to show off his pitch-perfect British accent.
"You have a great British accent, by the way," Fallon said.

"Oh thank you," Kline replied, sounding like he was born and raised in the U.K.
"Yeah, because I auditioned for the role as well," Fallon joked. "And I didn't get it. They gave it to you. But I was like, 'I think I can do it too,'" he continued, showing off his own, less accurate version of the accent.
"It's not that hard," Kline agreed.
Fallon then launched into a mini-monologue based on Kline's Disclaimer character.
"My wife just passed away...I'm really depressed."
"You've got it," Kline said encouragingly, still using a British accent.
After riffing for another moment, Fallon admitted he "didn't get the role."
"The accent was a little classier," Kline pointed out.
Kline's fans showed up in the comments to rave about the Oscar winner's talent (and express their surprise at seeing the French Kiss star).
"Dang / didn’t recognize him /😮😮😮😮," admitted one person.
"I LOVE Kevin Kline! ❤️," gushed someone else.
"👑🏆👑 Oh, how I have missed Kevin!!! One of Gen X’s brilliant actors we got to grow up with. So many incredible movies he has. And, what a hot babe he’s married to! ❤️," wrote another Instagram user.
Other commenters couldn't help but poke fun at Fallon's accent.
"Is it me or does Jimmy sound like the fab Ozzy Osbourne here?!" somebody wanted to know.
"Jimmy you always do Mick Jagger 😂," another person pointed out.
Disclaimer, which premiered on Oct. 11 on Apple TV+, is a psychological thriller starring Kline and Cate Blanchett. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón, the series is based on the best-selling novel of same name by Renée Knight and tells the story of a journalist who finds herself in danger of having her darkest secrets revealed.
