Kevin Bacon Shares Adorable 9th Grade School Photo: 'Don't Miss It at All'
Kevin Bacon’s latest “#TBT” Instagram post showcases a turtleneck, swooping hair and quite the smolder
As Kevin Bacon is reminding us, you’re only in 9th grade once.
The Footloose star, 65, shared a throwback photo to his Instagram account on Monday, May 6. The framed image of what appears to be a school portrait depicts Bacon circa age 14, in a thick turtleneck and dark jacket, smoldering for the camera.
“Ah, ninth grade,” wrote the actor in his caption. “Don’t miss it at all.”
The best part of Bacon’s “#TBT” post, as he called it, is the hair. As the photo was likely taken around 1972, Bacon’s swooping, chin-length ’do, parted in the middle, is very of its time.
The Golden Globe winner has rarely shied away from sharing embarrassing moments from his past. On a March episode of the Six Degrees with Kevin Bacon podcast in which he answered questions from fans, the host said anyone revisiting 1980’s Friday the 13th now “could see a very small bathing suit and a very bad dive,” recalling his infamously skin-baring scene in the slasher. “I'm not a diver by any stretch of the imagination… absolutely terrible.”
Not long after taking his stylish 9th grade photo, Bacon graduated from Philadelphia's Julia R. Masterman School and began pursuing theater, soap opera and film work. After a big-screen debut in 1978’s National Lampoon's Animal House, he broke out as a movie star in 1982’s Diner and 1984’s Footloose.

Last June, Kyra Sedgwick told PEOPLE that had they met in high school, she would certainly have been attracted to her dashing, turtleneck-clad now-husband. "I would’ve been like, 'God, he's so freaking hot!' " Sedgwick, 58, said, miming her heart beating out her chest.
She added that, like Bacon, she was a product of her time style-wise. "I grew up in the '70s — like, serious hippie. Tapestry and bellbottoms," the Born on the Fourth of July actress said.
The pair, who share two adult children, Travis Bacon, 34, and Sosie Bacon, 32, have also gotten candid about working on movie sets together. “Absolutely, oh yeah," she responded on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Wednesday, May 1 when asked whether they’ve "ever fooled around in" a set trailer. Sedgwick joked, "If the trailer's rockin', don't come a-knockin'!”
Bacon and Sedgwick, who originally met on the set of 1987’s Lemon Sky, are next set to share the screen together again in the upcoming film Connescence.
