Kesha Reveals an Ex-Boyfriend Broke Up with Her Because She Brought Someone Else to Taylor Swift's Party
"I had a feeling that he was in it for the wrong reasons and was a bit of a starf—er," said the "Joyride" singer in a new interview
Did Kesha's ex-boyfriend really want to date her? Or did he want to reap the benefits of dating a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated pop star?
In a new interview with ELLE, the "Joyride" singer opened up about her dating life and revealed a recent ex-boyfriend broke up with her because she bought someone else to one of Taylor Swift's parties.
"I had a feeling that he was in it for the wrong reasons and was a bit of a starf—er," Kesha, 37, told the outlet.
"I decided to test that theory and took one of my friends instead of him to Taylor Swift’s party," she recalled. "He came over the next day and broke up with me."
Kesha did not name the ex-boyfriend in question, but she was most recently linked to health-tech entrepreneur Michael Gilvary in July. Last year, she dated film producer Riccardo Maddalosso.
Elsewhere in the ELLE interview, the "Praying" artist spoke about diving into self-love rather than searching for a relationship at the moment.
"I’m only going to enter into a partnership again if someone treats me as well as I treat myself," she said. "I kept hearing people say, ‘I’m looking for The One.’ I kept waiting for somebody else to fill that space, and then I just stepped into it myself."
The star, who recently founded her own independent label with Kesha Records, then advised others to "be all those things to yourself — your own boyfriend, sugar daddy, rich husband, best friend, cheerleader."

"I started taking myself on vacations, buying myself six dozen roses, and taking myself for shopping sprees at Saint Laurent. Yes, I take myself on f—ing really bougie dates, like really celebrating the f— out of myself," said Kesha.
Such behavior led to her latest single, "Joyride," released on July 4 to coincide with Independence Day following the end of her lengthy legal battle with producer Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald.
Once Kesha started treating herself like a romantic partner should, she told ELLE, "Then 'Joyride' started being written in my mind. I was like, God, I am The One, though."
