Kerri-Anne Kennerley's jab at Ten as she addresses axing on air
Kerri-Anne Kennerley has delivered a pointed dig to Channel 10 live on air, just one day after her axing was announced.
The 66-year-old wore a military-style jacket for the occasion on Studio 10 this morning, explaining: “I've had a ball! And the reason why I've got this outfit today is because if you are being run out of town... make it look like a parade.”
She then saluted the camera with a slight smile on her face.
Studio 10 host Sarah Harris started off the chat about the redundancies at Channel 10, saying: “You’ve probably read all about the cuts that have had to be made here at the network. It is all true”
“In a few months time, Studio 10 will look very different to it does now. We’re losing colleagues, mates, we’re losing family members essentially. How is everyone doing?”
Kerri-Anne remained calm throughout the segment, responding: “I just know I'm back on the 'lazy Susan' of television. Yeah, it's very very tough for a lot of people.
“But I've always worked on a personal level, the Charles Darwin theory that says to survive you don't need to be the most intelligent. You don't have to be the strongest, but you have to be, to survive, the most adaptable.”
Kerri-Anne’s on-air appearance comes after entertainment reporter Peter Ford revealed in a tweet yesterday that he has spoken to the 66-year-old TV host, who, surprisingly, was very accepting of the news.
“Just spoke to KAK on the golf course. She’s sad for others but totally accepts the brutal realities of the industry and will finish in a few weeks. Was told face to face this morning. No anger and no bitchy quotes,” he tweeted.
The host has stirred up plenty of controversy during her time on the show, often dividing viewers with shock comments and political statements.
Last year, she famously clashed with Yumi Stynes over Australia Day protesters and called out journalist Antoinette Lattouf for wearing a short jumpsuit during her appearance on the show.
In June, the TV host said that she just “can’t resist” causing a stir with controversial comments, during an interview on Sky News' The Death of the Aussie Larrikin?.
Ten axes staff
Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Natarsha Belling have reportedly been axed from Channel Ten amid a huge shake-up at the network.
According to Mumbrella, weatherman Tim Bailey has also been let go after 24 years and Studio 10 host Joe Hildebrand is ‘in talks’ about his future on the show.
