Kelly Clarkson Calls Lainey Wilson's NFL Halftime Show "Freakin' Incredible"
If you've watched The Kelly Clarkson Show, you probably know that the host is a big Dallas Cowboys football fan. So it should come as no surprise that she was tuning in for the team's Thanksgiving Day game against the New York Giants. But there was more than one reason to watch: country music star Lainey Wilson took the field to perform the halftime show.
Lainey donned a sparkly white vest with matching cowboy hat and her trademark bellbottoms. She performed a compilation of her hits, including "4x4xU," "Heart Like a Truck," and "Hang Tight, Honey" before Jelly Roll joined her on stage to sing their duet "Save Me."
The NFL shared a clip of the halftime show on their Instagram feed, and Lainey's flooded them with comments, including "An OUTSTANDING performance!!😜🙌🏼👏🏼," "Crushed it girl!!!" and "I introduce you to the new Queen of Country Music. Talent of this level is rare. ❤️🇨🇦 🕶" Others said, "JELLY ROLL AS THE GUEST PERFORMANCE WAS AMAZING 🔥🔥🔥" and "Should be the Super Bowl halftime show."
Kelly Clarkson, who has showed her appreciation for Lainey in the past, took to her Instagram story to share her own reaction, writing, "Hell yes @laineywilson you are a badass! Halftime show was so freakin' incredible!"
Lainey's performance left an impression with her boyfriend, Duck Hodges, too. Lainey shared a video of her warming up for the performance by doing some football drills at Cowboy stadium, and Duck, a former NFL player, wrote, "Just fell in love again."
We couldn't agree more!
