Katy Perry's Second VMAs Look Had a Deep Plunging Neckline and Thousands of Silver Tassels
Consider it her fashionable take on the moonman trophy.
All eyes were on Katy Perry at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, as she was the evening's Video Vanguard Award winner and performer. After adding herself to a major part of the award show's history, Perry hit the carpet one last time to pose with her awards in a galactic-inspired ensemble.
The "I Kissed a Girl" singer appeared on the post-show black carpet in a cleavage-baring dress from Area's fall-winter 2024 collection. The dress was covered in a head-to-toe silver shade, and featured a choker detail made from thick tassels. The dress then fanned out into a plunging V-neckline that featured a knotted bundle of fabric at the chest, and gathered into the waist of her skirt. The waist of the dress also featured a large knot before extending into a free flowing skirt made up of the shimmery tassels.
For beauty and accessories, the 39-year-old kept the rest of her look simple—she added a pop of silver eyeshadow to her lids, a terracotta red lipstick on her lips, and wore her hair in shiny loose waves that gave off a wet look. She wore no visible jewelry, but she made up for it and posed with her silver and gold moonmen trophies backstage.
Elsewhere during Perry's time at the VMAs, she attended the red carpet in a two piece outfit by Who Decides War that served as a chic take on the shipwrecked aesthetic. She walked alongside fiancé Orlando Bloom on the red carpet, whom she had a sweet PDA moment with during the awards ceremony by kissing him onstage after her Video Vanguard performance, which included her hits like "E.T.," "I Kissed a Girl," "Teenage Dream" and more.
