Katie Maloney Says She Would've Broken Up with Tom Schwartz Had She Known About His Secret Scheana Shay Kiss
Katie Maloney admitted it would been "helpful information" to know that her then-boyfriend Tom Schwartz was "a creep" for kissing her 'Vanderpump Rules' costar Scheana Shay
Katie Maloney thinks her life might have changed course had she known about her now-ex-husband Tom Schwartz’s kiss with Scheana Shay.
On the latest episode of the Vanderpump Rules: After Show, the Something About Her co-owner, 37, questioned why she was kept in the dark about their kiss, which was exposed on Tuesday's episode of the Bravo hit, for over a decade.
“If it was a big nothing burger of a situation... Why don’t you just tell me?” she said. “Also, maybe I should know that my boyfriend is a creep, this would have been helpful information. It would have just been nice to know at some point in the last 10 years.”
Her costar Ariana Madix asked if she would have ended relationship with the Schwartz & Sandy's co-owner, 41, if she had known about the Vegas encounter.
“Yeah, that would have been a very different situation,” she admitted. “Having Tom just cheat on me with like, who? I don't know. It was a little bit different. I could kind of live in a little bit of ignorance…but have it been someone I know, that would be different.”
Instead, Katie went on to marry Schwartz in 2016 before the pair announced their divorce in 2022.
“Finding out, it doesn't change my life,” Katie explained. “So to get upset now, it's like for what reason?”
“It's unfortunate because I don't know that I fully trust Scheana and this kind of confirms that, unfortunately, because it's like you've kept something from me for so long,” she added. “I know you weren't like actively lying to me but not telling me about something is kind of [the same thing].”
However, Scheana justified her decision to keep the kiss secret because she “never wanted to hurt Katie.”
“I really didn’t and as much as she hated me at the time, I never wanted to say like, 'Your man has made out with a, b and c, also d,'” she said, indicating to herself. “I just never wanted to throw that in her face. I never wanted her to feel some sort of way around me because I knew she already had feelings about my past.”
“And I just thought it was so stupid of him and it was obviously something that was never going to happen again,” she continued. “I shot him down so quickly, so there was no need to talk about it and hurt her. Honestly, I was really just trying to protect her because I knew it was a dumb drunken thing he did with me that she also knew he did with multiple other people. I just didn't need to be one in the bunch.”
