Yahoo Lifestyle Kathy Bates Fans Jump to Her Defense After Lackluster Appearance
Fans are rallying for Kathy Bates after her latest talk show appearance.
The Oscar-winning actress recently appeared with the rest of the Matlock cast on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where the actors were welcomed with the show's now-famous "spirit tunnel."
Although her co-stars—including David Del Rio, Skye P. Marshall, Leah Lewis and Jason Ritter—danced their hearts out as they strutted through the cheer-filled tunnel, Bates decided to take things slow.
The 76-year-old actress instead walked leisurely behind the rest of the cast while they sang out, "Matlock and Drop It!"
Bates didn't sing along and definitely didn't "drop it," but her loyal fans insisted she was "just enjoying the moment."
"Why does Kathy look like she doesn’t want none of this? 😩😂," one user asked under an Instagram clip of the Matlock cast's spirit tunnel moment, while another commenter said Bates looked like she just wanted "to get this moment over with."
But others insisted that the Summer Camp star may have been surprised by the high-energy moment.
"I don't think she was ready," one fan wrote in her defense, while another person added, "It wasn't on her bingo card 😂😂😂😂😂😂."
"That’s just kathy’s default look," someone else argued.
More fans also spoke up on Bates' behalf, including one person who commented, "Kathy’s so tapped in she’s droppin n lockin it with her eyes OKAY 👏."
Another user warned others, "Don’t sleep on the great Ms. Kathy Bates 😍."
"Kathy is an icon and can proceed however she wants," someone else declared.
