Kasey Tyndall Loves on 16-Month-Old Daughter Sterling in Endearing New Music Video for 'Not as I've Done' (Exclusive)

"It's been the best time of my life," the rising country star tells PEOPLE of marriage and motherhood. "I'm my favorite version of myself so far"

In her 2022 single “Babies,” Kasey Tyndall sang of her secret doubts that she would ever grow up to be a wife or mother. But little did she know that in the years that lied ahead of her following the writing of that endearing song, she would become both.

“It's been the best time of my life,” Tyndall, 29, gushes during a recent interview with PEOPLE. “I’m my favorite version of myself so far.”

But yes, there was a time in the singer/songwriter’s life when marriage and motherhood seemed far down a somewhat mysterious road that didn’t come into clear view until the North Carolina native met Murfreesboro City firefighter Nate DeOrdio.

“I actually met him at a show, and we just became super close, super quick,” Tyndall remembers with a smile, noting that she and DeOrdio were married last February. “And then, we had Sterling.”

Sterling is the couple’s 16-month-old daughter, who not only changed the life of Tyndall, but also changed the music the accomplished singer/songwriter is now in the middle of creating. In fact, it was Sterling that Tyndall thought of while writing her latest heartbreakingly truthful single “Not as I’ve Done.”

“I think the song is just really about any parent's advice to their kid,” says Tyndall of the fortelling song she wrote alongside Adam Wood and Justin Richards.  “It's just as simple as that.”

What wasn’t as simple was trying to decide if Sterling would make an appearance in the music video for the new song. "I've been very hesitant about posting about Sterling and having her in videos just because the internet is the wild, wild West and it's not always good,” Tyndall explains. “After talking it over with Nate, we just agreed that Sterling would look back on this and she would love it. I just knew she had to be in this."

Indeed, in the endearing music video for “Not as I’ve Done”  premiering exclusively on PEOPLE, Sterling can be seen living her best little life with her mommy by her side.

"It was so much fun, but yeah, she was definitely a baby that day," Tyndall laughs of the video shoot that also coincidentally features the very same dollhouse featured in the "Babies" music video. "We had to wrangle her and get her to sit still, which was really hard. But we turned on Ms. Rachel on the TV to distract her. You probably can't tell that in the video, but we were very extra thankful for Ms. Rachel that day."

Tyndall was also extra thankful for her husband being on set for part of the day.

"It was so cute," she raves. "He got off shift that morning and came straight to the video shoot, which was so sweet of him. And yeah, he definitely helped me keep Sterling distracted. He would hold her in between sets while they were touching up my makeup and stuff."

Granted, Tyndall isn’t much of a makeup sort of girl. But she admits that it was nice to get pampered for a bit before the video shoot.

"It's crazy working and being a mom so yeah, it was just a nice morning of eating breakfast and getting all done up," says Tyndall, who is currently out on the road as an opener for fellow truth-teller Ian Munsick. "It felt so good."

'Good' just might be an understatement as to how Tyndall is feeling right now, both personally and professionally. Instead, she would describe it as feeling "complete."

"I didn't even know I needed to be completed, but now that I am, everything has gotten better," says Tyndall, who is now busy working on her forthcoming self-titled debut label release with MNRK Music Group. "I really can't put it into words just how happy I am. I see the world in color and it's amazing, and I'm excited to see how that bleeds into my music career. Someone once told me that babies bring blessings and that is so true."
