Kamala Harris’ Trump Debate Outfit Comes With a Delicate Lavallière Blouse, Dior Pantsuit and Signature Pearls

Kamala Harris made an arrival to the Presidential Debate stage on Tuesday in Philadelphia in one of her go-to suiting styles, a lavallière neckline. The Vice President began by introducing herself to former President Donald Trump wearing a black wool Dior pantsuit and pointed toe pumps.

She accessorized the outfit with statement pearl earrings. Harris’ affinity for pearls likely dates back to her sorority days at her alma mater, Howard University. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, whose signature jewel is the pearl.

Late last month, Harris revived one of her favorite outfit combinations while campaigning in Georgia alongside Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota. The Democratic nominee for president paired black low-top Converse sneakers with her Irene Neuwirth pearl and gold chain necklace, reviving the viral “chucks and pearls” trend she started in 2020.

While campaigning for President Joe Biden, Harris famously paired pearls with her black Converse low-tops. She even wore the sneaker on the cover of Vogue.

On inauguration day, many women paired Converse with pearls as an homage to Harris’ historic election as vice president. The Facebook group “Wear Pearls On Jan 20th, 2021” helped spark the trend, amassing hundreds of thousands of members in the process. Online, some even coined the date “Chucks and Pearls Day.”
