Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler Break Up After Three Years of Dating

After three years together—and a series of gorgeous joint red carpet appearances that left fans foaming at the mouth over their relationship—Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler have ended their relationship are are officially single in 2025.

TMZ reported that "the couple ended their romantic relationship around the end of 2024—which explains Austin's MIA status from Kaia's family trip to Mexico for the New Year." While fans of Gerber and Butler's relationship will be undoubtedly sad that it's over, the pair managed to end things amicably, with the outlet explaining that there's told "no bad blood between the former couple...the relationship just simply ran its course after a good 3 years together."

The model and Elvis star were confirmed to be dating in 2021. Gerber and Butler remained private for the first year of their relationship relatively private, but gave their romance its debut at the Met Gala in 2022, with the pair attending the Cannes Film Festival. By 2023, red carpet appearances and screening attendances were a normal occurrence for the couple, but they never commented much on their relationship.

Gerber explained in a February 2024 WSJ. Magazine interview why she liked keeping her relationship out of the spotlight. "Honestly, I feel like so few things in my life are private," she told the outlet, "That is one of the things that I try to keep as sacred as possible."

Part of the reason for the relationship privacy stemmed from social media user's tendencies to be toxic when sharing the intimate part of your life online. "I'm very sensitive, so I don't keep social media on my phone," she added. "And that's just something I've learned about myself, because it is hard to stay off of it. I personally haven't found a time in the last three years where I've gone on something like Instagram and left feeling better than I did before."
