If you go walking through tall grass in Jurassic World, ticks are the least of your problems. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali find that out the hard way in the first Jurassic World Rebirth trailer, which arrives days ahead of Super Bowl Sunday.

Director Gareth Edwards previously described the movie to Entertainment Weekly as "a brand-new chapter in this franchise," and the newly unveiled footage showcases just where we are.

Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, dinosaurs are dying out again and the majority are flocking to the only livable climate for them, a small tropical region around the equator. This is where Johansson, Bailey, and Ali are dodging dinos in the grass.

A pharmaceutical company wants the DNA of the three largest dinosaurs of land, sea, and air within this biosphere for science reasons. Zora Bennett (Johansson) and the captain of her ship, Duncan Kincaid (Ali), have been hired to fetch that DNA. Dr. Henry Loomis (Bailey), a paleontologist, is there to deliver his expertise, while Rupert Friend plays Martin Krebs, the Big Pharma representative on this expedition.

Throwing a wrench into the works is a mayday call the team intercepts from the Delgado family, whose nearby boat has capsized from an aquatic dinosaur attack. They all become stranded on a forbidden island that houses the first research facility for the original Jurassic Park — and all the now-mutated "failed attempts" at dinosaurs that didn't work for the planned attraction.

"These dinosaurs were too dangerous for the original park," Henry explains. "The worst of the worst were left here."

"Once you're on the adventure, the film doesn't let go until the end credits," Edwards teased to EW. "The enjoyment of it is in the moment-to-moment chase, escape, scare, horror, curveballs in the whole plotting of the set pieces and the dinosaur moments.”

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer) plays Reuben Delgado, while Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty), and Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez) play members of his family. Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool) portray members of Zora and Martin's crews.
