Exclusive: Daniel Radcliffe's love advice to Aussie actress
She's been a Miss World Australia runner-up and starred in popular soap Neighbours, but Yasmin Kassim's big break hasn't been till now, starring opposite Daniel Radcliffe in new film Jungle.
The actress and model, who will be hitting the red carpet at the Melbourne International Film Festival's opening night on Thursday to promote the horror flick, reveals the Harry Potter hunk taught her some valuable love lessons on set.
"I had a real penny drop moment with Daniel actually and I’ll forever be grateful to him for that," Yasmin exclusively tells Be.
"We were talking about my first long-term relationship and how I’m sometimes unsure if ending that was the right thing to do considering he was my first true love.
"He explained to me that if I hadn’t left that relationship in my early 20s, I would never have experienced my life the way I have since, standing on my own two feet, taking risks, making mistakes – and I wouldn’t be the actress that stood before him today."
She adds: "It was such a valuable lesson to understand - trust your instincts to live your life to the fullest and channel any pain or loss you feel into your art".
Yasmin plays Kina in the film Jungle, a native girl from the Amazon jungle.
"She doesn’t speak any English, she speaks Quechuan and has never met anyone outside her tribe before," Yassmin explains.
While Yasmin starred in Australian soap Neighbours in 2015, working on a high-budget film like this was a whole new experience.
"Spending so much time building Kina on the inside, building her back story, creating her body language, learning the language, and then having the incredible make up department transform me for hours every day was pretty mind blowing. I felt like I really was her," she reveals.
Jungle opens at the Melbourne International Film Festival on Thursday August 3.
