Julia Fox’s Underwear-Embellished Skirt Is a Literal Take on the Underwear-as-Outerwear Trend

Constantly known for wearing everything from silver sci-fi chic ensembles to wired pearl bras and even shoes made from hair extensions, you may be wondering what Julia Fox’s current favorite spring-summer fashion trend is. After all, can a person who’s that experimental with her sartorial choices even be limited to selecting just one preferred look?

From our interview with the former Cosmo UK cover star, we’d like to think we’ve gained somewhat of an insight into the workings of the model, actor, and author’s mind. And based on her most recent attire, we’re pretty sure not only does Julia have a favorite trend rn, but we’ve worked out exactly what it is. Enter: the underwear-as-outerwear trend.

Arriving on the red carpet last night, August 20, in New York for the world premiere of The Crow, Julia’s outfit seemed to confirm our theory.

At first glance, her outfit appeared to be subtly chic, consisting of an oversized black blazer, a washed gray T-shirt, and a black satin midi skirt. But upon closer inspection, she had, in fact, gotten dressed in reverse, layering a black satin lace-trim camisole complete with suspender belts over the top of her tee. And more obvious than that was the front of her skirt, which was outfitted with a pair of pink frilly underwear complete with a pretty lace design and satin bow.

A handbag also covered in pink satin bows coordinated perfectly with her lingerie, with black slouchy boots being the perfect finishing touch. As for her beauty look, heavy black eye makeup added extra drama.

Her fans were loving this latest outfit, taking to Instagram to write things like,

“julia really said DON’T HAVE TO GUESS THE COLOR OF MY UNDERWEAR 😭”
“Now that’s how you do underwear as outerwear 💅”
“she’s so julia 💚”
“You wanna guess the color of my underware✨ and it’s pretty and pink!”
“So cool 💗”
“omg!!! u look incredible im gagged.

The appearance follows Julia stepping out last week in a low-rise maxi skirt made entirely out of men’s boxers, further proving her current love of the trend. If this is the theme, we can’t wait to see what she wears next.
