When you find a look that works, there's no harm in sticking to it. That, at least, seems to be the motto for Angelina Jolie, who this weekend repurposed a metallic gown for the premiere of her film Maria at the 2024 American Film Institute Festival. And though it was the third time this month we've seen the actress step out in the slinky dress, she delivered one of her best renditions of the look yet.
Jolie, who is a seasoned outfit repeater, stepped out onto the red carpet in the silvery-gold gown. The elegant silhouette features a high, rounded neckline and a soft bias cut. She accessorised with a pair of metallic pointed pumps.
While Jolie previously styled the dress with both a grey blazer and a textured black coat, her latest take was the most glamourous. Here, she left the glossy gown uncovered for the most part, allowing its details to fully shine. A charcoal wrap was draped across her shoulders and covered her arms with billowing sleeves. The actress finished her look with a chunky gold bracelet and matching gold drop earrings.
It was her glam, however, that brought the most drama to her ensemble. Jolie wore her highlighted hair in teased curls, creating a voluminous ‘do that infused her look with the same heightened theatrics as her latest film. A bold red lipstick elevated her make-up even more, and she sported a vibrant scarlet manicure to match.
Jolie takes on the role of real-life 20th-century opera singer Maria Callas in Maria, a psychological drama that reimagines the famed Greek-American soprano’s final days before her death in 1977.
