Jordan Klepper Goes There With 'Low' Joke About Matt Gaetz
“Daily Show” correspondent Jordan Klepper mockingly offered to give Donald Trump a chance to see if he will make “responsible decisions” moving forward as he prepares to return to the White House.
That chance didn’t last very long as Trump nominated Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) for attorney general on Wednesday.
Gaetz had been under investigation in a sex trafficking probe involving a 17-year-old girl, although no charges were brought and the probe was eventually dropped. He has also been under investigation by the House Ethics Committee.
“Matt Gaetz as attorney general, this is a new low,” Klepper said. “I mean, not as low as our age-of-consent laws are about to be, but pretty low.”
He also had a “quick question” about the Cabinet department Gaetz was picked to lead.
“The Department of Justice isn’t within 100 feet of a school, is it?” he asked, then wondered if Trump is just “trolling us” with his nominations so far.
