A new season of Queer Eye is upon us, and that means the Fab 5 will be delivering makeovers to new "heroes" on Netflix. In the upcoming ninth season, longtime hosts Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown, Tan France and Jonathan Van Ness will be joined by newbie Jeremiah Brent who is taking over the interior design slot from Bobby Berk. Together the five will travel around Las Vegas, Nevada, zhuzhing up the lives of locals much like the original Fab 5 did on the 2003 show.

Perhaps the most well-known of the reboot's cast is grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness, or "JVN," as they've come to be known. And while Van Ness will be helping the show's subjects spruce up their personal lives, we can't help but be curious about the stylist's life of camera.

The Queer Eye star is married to Mark Peacock, a former fitness expert-turned ceramics artist. The pair have been married since sometime in 2020, although their marriage wasn't announced until the end of the year in a recap post from JVN.

How did Mark Peacock and Jonathan Van Ness meet?

Van Ness revealed via Instagram that they met Peacock in the latter's hometown of London. They went on a date while Van Ness was touring the world with their comedy show, and continued dating long-distance. At the end of the tour, Van Ness invited Peacock to join them, their family, and a few friends on a trip to Amsterdam, which cemented the seriousness of their relationship.

"Was it a bit intense to ask Mark to come after a couple weeks worth’s of dates to come meet my mom & and friends on a mini break?" Van Ness wrote on the caption of the post. "Maybe so, but something about Mark felt different and I’m quite sure he felt the same."

While the couple met in London and have spent a lot of time in the U.K., they are now settled in Austin, Texas. They have eight pets together, three dogs and five cats that live with them in their Austin home.

Is Jonathan Van Ness HIV Positive?

Yes. Van Ness revealed in his 2019 memoir Over the Top: A Raw Journey to Self-Love that they were diagnosed with HIV when they were 25. They continue to live a healthy life (as many with HIV+ diagnoses do) and now advocates for equal access to treatment and medication for anyone living with HIV.

It's important for me to speak about to help further equality for people living with HIV," he continued.

How did Jonathan Van Ness and Nicola Coughlan meet?

Van Ness may be happily married to Peacock, but the Queer Eye star is also is BFFs with Bridgerton bombshell Nicola Coughlan. According to Stylist UK, the duo met over Twitter (now X). Van Ness slid into Coughlan's DMs after she posted a photo of herself wearing a @JVN sweater. The two bonded online and met in person when Coughlan came to visit the stylist in NYC a few months later. They've been best buds ever since.

"We are consistently there for each other… [and] she’s helped me navigate all sorts of situations that I never thought I’d find myself in," Van Ness told People during a 2020 interview about their friendship.
