Years after filming the 2006 cult classic movie Aquamarine, Joanna “JoJo” Levesque says she considered swiping right on her costar Jake McDorman on the dating app Raya.

The former child star made the admission on an episode of First We Feast's Truth or Dab: Rapid Fire, when she was asked about one scene in the film, which was shot when she was 14.

Aquamarine centered on the titular character (played by Sara Paxton) — a mermaid who had run away from an arranged marriage under the sea — who befriends Florida mortals played by JoJO and Emma Roberts.

McDormand played Raymond, a human with whom the mermaid ultimately falls in love.

In one scene, JoJo whispers in Roberts ear. Asked on Truth or Dab to share what she was whispering, the actress said, "We were probably talking about Jake — how cute he was."

She continued: "And it's so funny because I saw him on Raya. We were both on there. And I'm like, 'Do I? Do I swipe? 'Cause like, you're cute.' But I kept going, because that ship has sailed."

In a 2024 episode of The Viall Files podcast, the singer told Bachelor alumnus Nick Viall and his co-host and wifeNatalie Joy, that the love for the film is “funny — it is! I hope that that word isn't offensive," she added, "I don't mean it like that, but it's just so funny because it's, like, just such a silly movie.”

“It's such a moment,” she continued. ”It's like a little cult classic, low-key, for girls of our demographic.”
