Johnny Ruffo memorial: Lynne McGranger, Tahnee Sims lead emotional tributes

"Four years after we first met, it became very clear why the universe had brought us together so young."

Johnny Ruffo has been remembered in an emotional memorial back in his hometown of Perth, after the actor and singer lost his battle with brain cancer earlier this month.

Johnny's family, partner Tahnee Sims, friends, and former Home and Away costars including Lynne McGranger gathered to commemorate the late star.

Lynne, who has played Irene Roberts on the soap for 30 years, was close friends with Johnny and took to Instagram to remember him.

"So many people came to say goodbye, so many more couldn’t get here. We cried and laughed and danced and sang and ate and drank and hugged and cried and …. - exactly how he would have wanted it

"Fly high my friend, I hope you know how much you’re loved."

"As two people who were both fiercely independent, focused on our own careers, and a bit in denial that we were clearly meant for each other – we used to joke that we should've met later in life.

"But on August 7th 2017, four years after we first met, it became very clear why the universe had brought us together so young.

"There wasn't going to be a later life for John."

Tahnee then went on to say how the pair prioritised their love after Johnny's first diagnosis, taking bucket list trips, never going a day without laughter, and ending every single goodbye with 'I love you'.

Friends and fans flooded the comment section to send their support to Tahnee, including Lynne.

"Just beautiful Tahnee. Your grace and strength are extraordinary 🙏🏼 🩷 We love you dearly and we’re always here for you," she commented. "Be kind to yourself darling and always reach out if you need to. Or even if you don’t."
