Johnny Gaudreau’s Widow Meredith Takes Their Kids on 'Super Fun' Day with His Sister and Parents
The NHL star and his brother Matthew were killed last month by an alleged drunk driver while riding bikes together the night before their sister's wedding
The family of late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau is spending some quality time together.
On Saturday, Oct. 5, Johnny’s widow, Meredith Gaudreau — who is currently pregnant with their third child — shared some snaps on her Instagram Stories of a “super fan” day out with her kids and late husband’s family.
In the first photo, the couple’s daughter Noa, 2, and son Johnny, 7 months, can be seen sitting in the laps of the late athlete’s mom, Jane Gaudreau, and sister, Katie Gaudreau, in an RTV.
Meanwhile, Johnny’s dad, Guy Gaudreau, sat behind the wheel, steering the four wheeler through a grassy area.
The family was all smiles as they posed for a group snap in the vehicle, with Noa and her little brother front and center in Halloween shirts.
“Super fun day today for he kiddos with the fam 🧡,” Meredith captioned the photo.
In her second and final post from the family day, she showed the RTV in motion, with Noa waving at the camera and her grandma smiling widely as the vehicle passed by.
The Gaudreaus’ day in nature comes shortly after Johnny's family asked a New Jersey court to stop the potential release of any records related to his and his brother Matthew Gaudreau’s tragic deaths on Aug. 29.
On Thursday, Oct. 3, NJ.com reported that the family filed a court motion in hopes of preventing any potential release of records related to their deaths, a request that comes after images of police officers’ notes taken at the scene of the brothers’ deaths were shared on social media.
Johnny and Matthew were killed when an alleged drunk driver crashed into them while they were riding bicycles together near their New Jersey hometown the night before they were set to serve as groomsmen in their sister Katie’s wedding.
Johnny — an 11-year NHL player who played for the Columbus Blue Jackets and, previously, the Calgary Flames — was 31 years old. His younger brother, a former hockey standout at Boston College, was 29.
Sean M. Higgins, the alleged drunk driver, has remained in police custody on two counts of death by auto since he was arrested following the crash.

At the brothers’ funeral on Sept. 9, Meredith announced she was pregnant with her and Johnny’s third baby.
"John and I had the best six months as a family of four. These will forever be the best six months of my life," she said at the service, per ABC News. "There's specifically one week that I will cherish forever — it will be my favorite week of my life out of those six months. We're actually a family of five. I'm in my ninth week of pregnancy with our third baby."
Matthew’s widow Madeline is also pregnant and expects to give birth to her and Matthew’s first child together later this year.
