John Oliver's Attempt To Pay Homage To Dog Who Passed During Emmys Is Giving People the Feels

John Oliver took the stage at the Emmy's last night to accept the Emmy award for Outstanding Scripted Variety Series and thanked all of the usual people in his acceptance speech, his staff, HBO, his kids, his wife and in a touching moment, his dog that passed away.

The issue is, the comedian Oliver got cut off by the orchestral music just when he was mentioning his dog.

In the speech Oliver said, "We have the most fantastic dog. She was at our wedding and she got us through the pandemic, she was with us for two pregnancies.” As the band began to play , he joked, “Perfect choice of music! We had to say goodbye to her.”

The next line he spoke was bleeped out but it appeared that Oliver told the audience “F--- you!. He went on to say, “I feel like Sarah McLachlan right now,” he joked. “She was an amazing dog.”

The band briefly stopped playing, but came back in as Oliver said “This isn’t just for her, this is for all dogs! You are all very good girls, you are very good boys. You all deserve a treat. Play me off now, thanks so much!”

It's so hard losing a beloved dog and what a sweet tribute Oliver made to her!

Losing a dog is one of the most heartbreaking experiences a pet owner can face. However, there are many meaningful ways to honor your beloved pup's life and cherish the joy and love they brought into your world.

Certain parks have a rainbow bridge where dog owners can place the collar or tags of a dog that has passed. This is a lovely way you can remember your pup and pay homage to all the other beloved dogs who have passed.

You can plant a memorial garden in your yard and place a stone or path marker with your pups name on it.

You can create a memory book filled with beautiful photos of your dog.

You can light a candle in your dog's honor on their birthday, holidays, or whenever it brings you comfort.

You can adopt or foster a dog in honor or your pet, or make a donation in their name to your local animal shelter or Humane Society.

Losing a beloved dog is never eases, but in time the pain will subside a bit and you will be left with more memories of the joy they brought you then with tears.
