Joe Biden's daughter, Ashley Biden, on her dad's strict family rule
Just hours before President-Elect Joe Biden gets sworn into office, his daughter, Ashley Biden, has shared the one rule her father has when it comes to their family.
In an interview on TODAY, 38-year-old Ashley, who is the daughter of Joe and his wife, Jill Biden, said family always comes first for the 46th President of the United States.
In 1972, Joe lost his first wife, Neilia, and his baby daughter, Naomi, in a car accident, with his beloved son, Beau Biden, passing away in 2015 from brain cancer at the age of 46.
"Dad is so empathetic and has the ability to recognize pain, to feel others' pain, and to comfort," Ashley said during the interview.
"It's also made family his number one. We have a rule still today that no matter where Dad is, no matter what meeting he's in, if one of the kids call, you have to get him out."

During the TODAY interview, Ashley credited her mother, Jill, for really keeping her dad grounded.
"She will always remind him to take out the trash. Even this morning, you know, make sure to wash your bowl. Dad loves his Raisin Bran in the morning, and she's like, 'Joe, wash that bowl, don't put it in the sink’,” she said.
Ashley was also asked about whether her mother, Jill Biden, had heard anything from outgoing FLOTUS, Melania Trump.
"No, I don't think they're doing the traditional protocol, which is unfortunate, but I think we're all OK with it," she said.
Ashley also revealed that she will not be taking a job within the White House administration.
"I will, however, hopefully use this platform to advocate for social justice, for mental health, to be involved in community development and revitalization," she said. "I do hope to bring awareness and education to some topics, subjects that are really important.,” she said.
