J.Lo calls out Today host's 'private' question with bold move: 'Touche'

Her rekindled relationship with former fiancé, Ben Affleck has been splashed across the headlines since the pair got back together in April last year.

But Jennifer Lopez is keen to keep her love for the Gone Girl star under wraps this time around.

So much so, the 52-year-old has politely but firmly dodged questions about her relationship on the biggest breakfast TV show in the US.

J.Lo was chatting about her new rom-com film, Marry Me with Today show hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie on Friday when talk turned to her own romantic life.

Savannah wanted to know how the "Let's Get Loud" singer got back together with actor/director Ben almost 20 years after calling off their engagement, but J.Lo wasn't about to spill the details.

"I think, you know, we can talk about that backstage if you really want to know," the mum-of-two replied.

"I think what [Ben and I] learned from the last time is that love, when you’re lucky enough to find it, is so sacred and special and you have to hold a little bit of that privately. And that's what we've learned," she added.

With both hosts slightly taken aback, J.Lo conceded that the couple is 'very happy'.

Later on in the interview, Hoda complimented Jennifer on her latest People magazine cover shoot which she held up to the camera while attempting to obscure a headline about her own personal life.

"Let me just block out this corner," Hoda said, with her fingers covering a story on her recent split from her fiancé, Joel Schiffman.

J.Lo couldn't resist calling out the irony of the situation where one person's love life was off-limits while the other's was fair game.

"Why are you trying to block out the corner?" she shouted playfully. "You trying not to talk about your personal stuff, Hoda?!"

"Touche, touche," the host replied with a laugh.

Hoda, 57, announced the end of her engagement to Joel after nine years together earlier this week.

Jen and Ben, 49, first got together back in 2001 after meeting on the set of their box office flop, Gigli. They were engaged in November 2002, called off the wedding almost a year later and officially split in January 2004.

After rekindling their love in April 2021, 'Bennifer' made their first official red carpet appearance together in almost two decades at the premiere of Ben's new film, The Last Duel.

Ben was previously married to Jennifer Garner and the couple shares two daughters, Serafina and Violet, and son Samuel.

Jennifer shared twins Max and Emme with her former husband, Marc Anthony, and was recently engaged to baseball star Alex Rodriguez.
