Jimmy Fallon Proposes A New Challenge For Mitch McConnell After Health Scare
Jimmy Fallon has faith Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will be back in fighting shape in no time after the Kentucky Republican fell over on Tuesday.
“Some news from Washington today: Mitch McConnell needed medical attention after he took a fall during a Senate Republican lunch,” Fallon said on “The Tonight Show” Tuesday.
“Thankfully, McConnell is doing OK and should have no problem getting ready for his upcoming fight with Jake Paul,” Fallon added, referring to the 27-year-old YouTuber who recently won a highly publicized bout against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, 58.
McConnell’s office said in a statement that the senator had tripped and sustained a minor cut to the face and sprained wrist, and had been “cleared to resume his schedule.”
The 83-year-old, who has experienced several health episodes in recent years, is stepping aside as leader of the Senate GOP, with Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) to replace him next year.
