After 10 years of marriage, Jessica Simpson and her husband, former NFL player Eric Johnson, are separating. While it is unclear if the couple will be heading for a divorce, Simpson revealed that she and Johnson have been spending time apart recently, and will continue to prioritize their children.

"Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage," the "I Wanna Love You Forever" singer said in a statement to People. "Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."

Simpson's statement comes after People reported in November that she has been dividing her time evenly between Los Angeles and Nashville, as she's preparing for what's next in her career. "She's working on music and splits her time between Los Angeles and Nashville. Eric spends all of his time in L.A., where the kids go to school," an insider told People at the time. "Jess and Eric very much live separate lives."

The news of Simpson and Johnson's split comes amid reports that the couple has been spotted without their wedding rings. People also reported that Johnson was seen without a band on his left ring finger on November 12, while Page Six reported that Simpson was seen without her ring on December 27 while taking her children to the movies. The singer also hadn't posted Johnson on her Instagram since September 2023.
