Jessica Mauboy feels 'sad' about Young Divas' downward spiral
While ARIA award-winning Jessica Mauboy has gone on to find international success since her Australian Idol days, not all of her former Young Divas band members have been so lucky.
And in her latest radio interview, the 28-year-old, who was part of the girl band alongside Kate DeAraugo, Paulini Curuenavuli and Emily Williams, has commented on some of the other girls' recent personal battles and run-ins with the law.
Speaking to Hit105’s Stav, Abby & Matt with Osher show on Monday morning, Jessica said she felt "really sad" to see Kate in the headlines recently, after she was allegedly found with drugs and weapons on her.
"I feel sad. I feel that it’s such great talent," she told the radio hosts, explaining she hasn't spoken to Kate since 10 years ago "when I was with the Young Divas".
"I haven’t seen her but just seeing those photos makes me really sad," she continued. "But I think she had been struggling for quite some time and everyone gets to see it unfortunately",
Jessica said that with fame "comes the gossip, cameras and people are going to say something and people are going to tell your secrets whether you like it or not".
"But it’s going to happen so I feel more sad that they’re going through their moments and it’s all public," she continued.

Apart from Kate, another band member who has recently made headlines is Paulini, after she pleaded guilty to bribing a public official to unlawfully obtain a driver's licence.
Jessica joined the Young Divas in 2007, replacing original member Ricki-Lee Coulter who chose to leave after a year to pursue a solo music career.
