This week, the actress turned 56 years old and to celebrate another trip around the sun, she gifted fans with a never-before-seen photo from her childhood. And trust us when we say, her hair was just as iconic back then as it is now.

In the snapshot, the young star sassily posed with her head tilted to the side, as she fixed her hair with one hand and wore a patterned skirt and dark-colored tank top. And while her hair at the time wasn't exactly the Rachel cut everyone knows and loves today, Aniston still was sporting a head full of layered locks complete with bangs.

Thanking fans for their birthday wishes alongside the black-and-white photo on Instagram, Aniston wrote, "Thank you for all the beautiful birthday wishes! This kid is feeling very grateful and very loved."

Along with those wishing Aniston a happy birthday was her BFF and Friends co-star Courteney Cox. Sharing a throwback photo of her own, Cox posted a red carpet snap of the two pals from the early 2000s: "Happy birthday to my friend for life. Never has there been a more generous, loving, beautiful, talented, funny, loyal friend," Cox wrote in the caption. "I feel so lucky to be growing up with you."

She proceeded to include an inside joke, adding: "Remember our CATS audition? 😉."

Back in 2019, Aniston opened up about getting older while speaking with InStyle following her 50th birthday. “Fifty was the first time I thought, ‘Well, that number,'” she told us. “I don’t know what it is because I don’t feel any different. Things aren’t shutting down in any way.”

She continued, "I feel physically incredible. So it’s weird that it’s all of a sudden getting telegraphed in a way that’s like, ‘You look amazing for your age.’ I think we need to establish some etiquette around that dialogue and verbiage.”
