Jennie Garth still hasn't accepted the death of her former Beverly Hills, 90210 costars Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty.

"It doesn't make sense. It still doesn't make sense to my brain," Garth said Wednesday’s episode of the Two Jersey Js podcast, hosted by former Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Jackie Goldschneider and Jennifer Fessler. "And I live in a world where they, where they still are a lot in my mind. So it’s very, very hard to understand that they're not here physically."

The three were cast members of the phenomenally popular teen drama, which originally aired for 10 seasons on Fox, from 1990 to 2000. Doherty and Jason Priestley played teenage twins Brenda and Brandon Walsh, whose family was adjusting to the swanky world of Beverly Hills after leaving Minnesota. Perry was Brenda's love interest, Dylan McKay, and Garth was Brenda's best friend (and Dylan's sometimes girlfriend), Kelly Taylor.

The original cast of the Aaron Spelling-produced show also included Ian Ziering, Tori Spelling, Brian Austin Green, and Gabrielle Carteris. They were famously close, having shared something so transformational early in their careers.

Perry died March 4, 2019, after suffering a stroke. He was 52. The actor had gone on to act on shows such as Oz and Riverdale. He appeared in the hit Quentin Tarantino movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which was released several months after his death.

While Perry died before it filmed, a reboot of sorts, called BH90210, starred most of the cast, including Doherty, in 2019. The former child actress had starred in TV's Charmed after 90210, died July 13, 2024, after struggling with breast cancer for years. She was 53.

Garth has said that she's received messages from Perry after he died.

"He would be in my dreams and he would just be standing there and he would be smiling and he would give me the vibe, the energy, the thought, that 'Keep going. You're doing great. Keep doing what you're doing,'" Garth told Parade in July 2024. "I have goosebumps every time I talk about this."

Garth is just one of the 90210 cast members have regularly memorialized her former colleagues and friends. While she's acknowledged that her friendship with Doherty was "complicated," she's also said she was "one of the most generous people I know."

"Our connection was real and honest," Garth wrote on social media just after Doherty's death. "We were so often pitted against each other but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship which was one built on mutual respect and admiration. She was courageous, passionate, determined and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories."
