Jennie Garth doesn't agree with the 2025 Oscars' decision to omit Shannen Doherty from the In Memoriam tribute.

Garth, 52, was asked about Doherty's omission from the In Memoriam segment while in New York, per a video TMZ published on Wednesday, March 5 on X.

“Yeah, that’s messed up," Garth replied.

When asked if the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences should "maybe" apologize, Garth agreed.

While Doherty's image wasn't included in the broadcast, she is included in the official In Memoriam database on The Academy's website.

Garth and Doherty starred as Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh, respectively, in the 1990s drama Beverly Hills, 90210.

On Sunday, March 2, after the segment aired, Doherty’s representative said it was disappointing that the actress, who worked in Hollywood for 45 years, was not included, per TMZ.

Doherty's career began in 1982 with roles in Voyagers! and Father Murphy. Although the Charmed star was better known for her TV work, she did star in several movies, including Heathers and Mallrats.

Doherty died in July 2024, after years of living with cancer. She was 53. The actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and spoke candidly to PEOPLE in November 2023 about her stage 4 breast cancer, which had by then spread to her bones.

Garth was among the many costars and friends who paid tribute to Doherty after her death. She posted an Instagram tribute to her former costar, remembering their "connection" outside of the spotlight.

Garth also spoke of Doherty's death on her I Choose Me with Jennie Garth podcast, saying she felt "like someone punched me in the stomach" after hearing the news.
