“General Hospital” Star Jeff Kober Recalls Creepy Experience Playing Pool When He Was Younger (Exclusive)
"There was a drunk woman in this bar. She came up and she felt my muscle," the actor recalls ahead of the release of his new pool hall drama 'Break'
Jeff Kober had a strange experience while playing pool when he was younger.
The General Hospital actor, 70, spoke with PEOPLE about his connection to the sport ahead of the release of his new movie Break, in which he plays a pool champ and troublemaker.
"I was telling my cousin's son just a few days ago that his father and I were playing pool when we were 19 or 20 in Montana," Kober recalls over Zoom. "And there was a drunk woman in this bar. She came up and she felt my muscle."
He claims that the woman then told his cousin: "I'm a witch and you're gonna lose this game."
When asked if the woman’s prophecy came true, Kober says, "It didn’t matter. We were getting drunk anyway."

His connection to the sport runs deeper than that as he also shares that Hollywood casting director Megan Branman once beat him in pool "17 games in a row."
"It was the most humiliating sporting event I've ever attended," he jokes.
The new drama thriller, out Tuesday, June 11, is directed by Will Wernick and follows Eli (Darren Weiss) as he becomes embroiled in an underground pool scene while taking care of his sister and mother. The young man eventually faces off against Kober’s Jimmy, who has a knack for stirring trouble.

Kober says he was drawn to the movie by the director and the prospect to "polish up" his pool skills.
The actor adds that he enjoyed his time on set because "everyone was trying to make the best movie they could make."

"I don't know if everyone says that but I know that's not the case everywhere you go. Oftentimes, it's a very split group where everyone's taking care of their own business and they're not pulling together to have one experience," he says. "This one, because of the limited budget, the limited amount of time we had, and the need to choreograph things so precisely, everyone was working toward that one end."
He describes the dynamic as the "best kind of set."
"Where people set aside their egos as much as possible," he continues. "We're humans, we have egos but set them aside and work for some common goal. It always goes better."
