Fans jump to Jack Vidgen's defence after star is slammed for Eurovision decider performance

Jack Vidgen’s fans have rallied around the Australian star after he was brutally slammed on social media over his performance on Eurovision competition, Australia Decides.

The 23-year-old former Australia’s Got Talent star took to the stage last night on the Gold Coast to battle it out for the prize of representing Australia in the Eurovision in May.

While Jack was pipped to the post by 24-year-old Sydney-based artist Montaigne, he was mocked online, with one person even saying he thought the young Aussie singer was so bad he “laughed out loud” at his TV screen.

But Jack’s fans didn’t take the criticism lying down, taking to Twitter to hit back at trolls.

“WTF is wrong with people? Jack Vidgen has emotions like the rest of us. The haters on here ought to be ashamed.Find something productive to do instead,” one person said.

“Why did I see someone asking why Jack Vidgen wore makeup like a girl? It’s 2020 people,” another person said.

Others called Jack’s performance ‘Eurovidgen’ and questioned why the singer was copping so much flak online.

That didn’t stop people from writing nasty things online after Jack’s performance.

“Jack vidgen was just so bad i laughed out loud - dear god make it stop!!,” one person wrote.

“Jack Vidgen sounds like me singing along to Mariah after a white wine,” another person said.

Montaigne couldn’t believe it when she was crowned winner, after vying for her spot amongst ten acts, including pop icon Vanessa Amorosi, Australian Idol powerhouse Casey Donovan and Australia's Got Talent winner Jack Vidgen.

"THE MOST INSANE NIGHT EVER — I'M GOING TO EUROVISION — LIFE IS CRAZY — THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING ME," Montaigne posted on Facebook after the results were announced.
