Yahoo Lifestyle Ivor Novello Awards 2024 Winners List: Raye Wins Songwriter of the Year, Paul McCartney Presents Fellowship to Bruce Springsteen
The 2024 Ivors honored Raye, Bruce Springsteen, Lana Del Rey, KT Tunstall, Bernie Taupin and many more on May 23 in London.
The coveted awards honored 26 songwriters and composers across 14 categories in recognition of outstanding achievements in songwriting and composing for screen. Raye, whose debut album “My 21st Century Blues” helped launch her solo career to new heights, was honored as songwriter of the year. Springsteen was the first international artist to receive a fellowship of the songwriting academy, an honor presented by surprise guest Paul McCartney.

The special international award celebrated the career and influence of Lana Del Rey, who delivered a poignant speech about her longevity in music. Best album was awarded to Black Classical Music, written by Yussef Dayes, Rocco Palladino and Charlie Stacey. Meanwhile, best contemporary song was claimed by Kwake Bass, Peter Bennie, Biscuit and Raven Bush of Speakers Corner Quartet alongside Kae Tempest for “Geronimo Blues”.
Having won the 2023 rising star award, Victoria Canal returned for the 2024 iteration to pick up a win for best song musically and lyrically with “Black Swan,” alongside Jonny Lattimer and Eg White. Master Peace took home this year’s rising star award.
Dave, Central Cee, Jo Caleb and Jonny Leslie together won PRS for music most performed work for their collaboration on the UK’s biggest song of 2023, “Sprinter.” Skepta was recognized with the visionary award with Amazon Music.
Elton John’s go-to songwriter Bernie Taupin was recognized with the Ivor Novello for outstanding contribution to British music. It is the ninth Ivor Novello awarded to Bernie Taupin, who has also written for artists as diverse as Starship, Heart, Willie Nelson, Courtney Love and Brian Wilson. KT Tunstall received the outstanding song collection with PRS for music award, honoring her 20-year career.
