Ivanka Trump told she ‘need not apply’ to swanky country club

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner haven’t even left the White House yet but it seems they’re already in the bad books with their new neighbours.

Last month, Page Six revealed that Donald Trump’s daughter and her husband had snapped up a $30 million property on Florida’s Indian Creek Island, in an area dubbed “Billionaire’s Bunker”.

Just over an hour from her father’s Mar-a-Lago club and with only 29 residences on the Island, the couple are believed to have forked out big bucks for their new digs.

However, after the recent Capitol riots, it appears not everyone is ready to welcome them into the exclusive enclave with open arms, especially after Ivanka labelled rioters ‘American patriots’.

According to Page Six, many residents have made objections to the couple joining in the elite, 300-member Indian Creek Country Club, where initiation fees are believed to cost $150,000 upwards.

Despite the ‘Billionaire’s Bunker’ crowd reportedly being largely Republican, an insider said: “You have to be nominated and make a formal application. But it only takes one member to object against any new member, and many members are objecting, particularly after the events at the Capitol on January 6.

“The Indian Creek Country Club members are very picky and the word is that Javanka need not apply.”

However, there have been reports that some neighbours are looking forward to Ivanka and Jared’s arrival, with some even extending an invitation to them for dinner already.

Ivanka, Jared and their three children have been living in the Kalarama area of Washington since Trump took over office. Before that they were in New York City, where they still have their Park Avenue apartment.

Their new neighbourhood is said to feature a golf course, a police force an armed boat patrol and the wealthy country club.

Last week Ivanka caused outrage online when she tweeted as a group of rioters stormed the US Capitol.

“American Patriots - any security breach or disrespect to our law enforcement is unacceptable. The violence must stop. Please be peaceful,” she wrote, in an attempt to stem increasing hostility in Washington DC.

However, her use of the term ‘patriots’ was quickly questioned.

CNN White House correspondent Kate Bennett called out the senior advisor to the President on the social media platform, asking: “You're saying these people are ‘patriots’??”

The tweet was then deleted, but not before screenshots were shared.
