Issa Rae & ‘Insecure’ Creator’s Hoorae Sign With CAA

EXCLUSIVE: A couple of weeks after Issa Rae canceled her sold-out Kennedy Center show over Donald Trump’s “infringement” of the DC institution, the Insecure creator had signed with CAA.

Exiting UTA, Rae and her Hoorae media company will be represented by the Bryan Lourd-run uberagency in all areas, I’m told. The Emmy-nominated Rae will continue to be repped by 3 Arts Entertainment, AM PR Group, and Hansen Jacobson Teller Hoberman Newman Warren Richman Rush Kaller Gellman Meigs & Fox LLP.

On the other side of the country, all tickets to the scheduled March 16 An Evening with Issa Rae at the Kennedy Center will be refunded, the Rae pledged.

Not that Rae will be out of sight for long. She produced the upcoming HBO documentary Seen and Heard, which is having its world premiere next month at the SXSW Film & TV Festival. To that end, the Barbie star will also be speaking in Austin at A Conversation with Issa Rae on March 8.

Founded in 2020, Hoorae has seen Rae EP TV series Rap Sh!t, A Black Lady Sketch Show and Sweet Life: Los Angeles as well as big-screen comedy One of Them Days. With Montrel McKay running the company’s TV and film efforts, Hoorae has a multi-year overall deal with the Warner Bros Discovery-owned HBO.
