Ice-T and Coco Austin are revealing the surprising creator behind their family's spooky Halloween look.

On Thursday, Oct. 31, the longtime couple chatted with PEOPLE at Heidi Klum's annual Halloween bash while dressed up as blood-covered killer clowns. Asked about the inspiration behind their haunting look, Austin, 45, tells PEOPLE, "Our daughter came up with it," referring to their daughter Chanel, 8.

"She wanted to be something scary, so he says, 'Okay, we'll all be the killer clown family,' " Austin continues, pointing to her rapper husband, 66. "As a matter of fact, our friends dressed up as killer clowns, so we're the killer clown posse tonight," she adds.

In the proud dad's post, Chanel is covered in creepy face paint and holding up a fake, bloody knife while wearing a scary clown dress.

"Trick or Treat 👻 @babychanelnicole wanted to be the little girl from Terrifier3," Ice-T explained in his caption, sweetly adding, "Yes, the Apple 🍎 doesn’t fall far from the tree.."

"Yes, my parenting technique is probably different than most.. But @babychanelnicole has Zero stage fright," he wrote in his caption. "And is on her second passport. #TourLife," he jokingly added.
