Hugh Jackman insider hits back at 'playboy' rumours: 'Still mourning'

A source has slammed reports that the Aussie actor is ready to start dating.

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness shocked fans when they announced they were splitting after 27 years together.

Since then, the pair have remained silent on why they decided to go their separate ways – with rumours circulating they “grew apart” during lockdown and it was “a long time coming”.

Now as the two navigate their divorce as privately as possible, it's been reported that Hugh isn't ready to jump back into the dating pool just yet, despite recent reports that he was looking to put himself back out there.

The Aussie actor has been spotted at events with Ryan Reynolds and was recently snapped with singer Betty Who, but an insider has told Daily Mail that Hugh is still mourning the end of his marriage and has no intentions of being a 'playboy'.

"Hugh and Deborra have tremendous respect for each other and want to see each other do well in life, whether that is in their careers, love life, and everything else that hits their plate," the source said.

"He is in that lull period where he is still mourning the breakup, looking to dive into work to get his mind removed from it, flattered that a new love life could happen in the future and also, he loves the fact that he could do absolutely nothing at all," they continued.

"The options he has are exciting and scary, he wants to respect Deborra's feelings and his feelings, and he also wants to respect the feelings of someone he would get involved with."

The source also said Hugh is 'interested' in dating but would want to give his 100 per cent when he starts exploring life as a single man.

"He wants to approach that part of life with the best of intentions, he's not looking to be a playboy," they said.
