A resurfaced interview has shown rumoured couple Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster gushing about working with each other. The pair, who have both recently separated from their partners (Hugh from Deborra-Lee Furness and Sutton from Ted Griffin), are believed to have formed a romantic connection after getting to know each other while working together on the Broadway show The Music Man.

The co-stars were promoting the show on The Late Night With Seth Meyers in May 2022 after the Covid pandemic, with Sutton telling host Seth Meyers, "Broadway was nonexistent for almost two years. And I feel like there’s this shared sense of gratitude between the people onstage and the audience. And the show is so joyful, and I’m having the time of my life playing opposite this guy."

"You had to say that, but thank you," Hugh teases her.

"I did!" Sutton adds. "But it’s like — it’s a dream come true. Truly."

The Aussie actor then reveals that they sometimes get hecklers, including someone who once yelled, "Kiss her already!"

Hugh and Sutton worked on the show from December 2021 to January 2023, with Sutton sharing another memory from a particular show where Hugh spoke to an audience member.

"We’re in the second act. We have a very long scene together where we’re like breaking down and starting to, like, fall for each other, and this person is sneezing repeatedly. And then at one point he went, 'Bless you,'" she says, pointing a finger at him. "And then it was over and then he exits and just leaves me onstage to have to endure the wrath."

Hugh jokes that Sutton probably didn't want to work with him again after that moment.

The pair also said that they were "intimidated" by the other, with Sutton saying, "Yes. You’re Hugh Jackman. And then our names are, like, really big on, like, a giant billboard. And I was like, 'Oh God, that’s gonna cost a lot of money when they have to replace me.'... But I was pretty convinced I was going to be fired for several weeks."

Hugh responds, "This is a six-time Tony nominee, two-time winner. Like, I saw her do Thoroughly Modern Millie when you were like 4 years old. But I’ve watched everything she’s done."

In true Aussie style, the Wolverine actor poked fun at himself, adding, "It’s amazing. And I’m the guy who, in my first show, Beauty and the Beast, it was in my contract that I had to have singing lessons once a week."

Elsewhere in the chat, Hugh describes his co-star as "literally the best in the world."

A source claimed to Page Six last week that Hugh and Sutton are "in love" and inseparable but have been careful to stay out of the public eye.

"They spend all of their free time together," the insider claims. "They are a regular couple, they are just in private."

The source adds that the couple "sneak around" to avoid being caught in public.

Another insider previously told the publication, "They are 100 percent together and are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together."

"They are still together. They go out of their way to hide it, but it’s common knowledge," a source said.

Sutton previously told Vogue in 2022 what it was like to work with Hugh, saying, "He has an impeccable reputation of being the hardest-working man, incredibly kind, and generous — and all of that is true. He disarms everyone, and he doesn’t make anything about him."

She added, "He’s now become one of my best friends, which was a surprise, because you usually go into these things thinking, 'Well, I hope we get along.' But we just spent Memorial Day with our families. It’s really fun to meet new friends after 40."
