Carrie Underwood performed "America the Beautiful" during President Donald Trump's inauguration. After President Trump was sworn into office, she took the stage in the Capitol Rotunda to sing. She said of the opportunity, "I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future."
The event was moved indoors due to weather. When Carrie took the microphone wearing a gray sheath dress and diamond jewelry, there was a delay before she began singing due to an apparent malfunction with her music. After waiting in silence for a few moments, she was approached by an official and said, "A cappella? I'll just sing." A fan on Tik Tok caught the moment she was informed of the issue.
Then, before she hit the first note, she said to the audience, "If you know the words, help me out here." Carrie relied on her flawless vocals and the assistance of the people in attendance who sang along to the patriotic song.
She then gave the audience a round of applause and bowed before shaking the hands of former President Biden, President Trump, and Vice President J.D. Vance.
