Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness' surprise reunion on his birthday

The couple had a 'lovely evening' celebrating his birthday in New York.

Less than a month after announcing their split, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have had a surprise reunion to celebrate his 55th birthday.

The soon-to-be former couple were spotted together on Thursday evening dining at Ralph Lauren's New York restaurant, The Polo Bar.

A source told Page Six that the pair were joined by their children, 23-year-old Oscar and 18-year-old Ava, and “a few close friends”.

“Very happy time [had] by all,” they added. “Think it was [a] good birthday.”

When approached for comment, Hugh’s rep confirmed the reunion and told the publication: “Yes, it’s true. It was a lovely evening.”

Hugh took to social media on Friday to share a photo of himself from the birthday celebration, raising a drink to the camera as he smiled.

“Thank you ALL for the birthday love!!! I’m reading your messages, seeing the special videos and experiencing all the feels,” he wrote in the caption

He also shared an Instagram Story showing off his dessert from the restaurant, which featured a scoop of ice cream and his name written in chocolate syrup on the plate.

Earlier in the day, the Wolverine star had enjoyed a stroll around New York City with his close friends Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.

Hugh and Deborra-Lee announce split

Hugh and Deborra-Lee revealed their split last month in a statement shared with People magazine, saying: “We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”

They continued: “Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.

“We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”

It has since been reported that Hugh is in the early stages of writing a “bombshell memoir”.

“Hugh is choosing to [write this book] now because he's finally [being] honest with himself [and] the divorce,” an insider told Us Weekly.

“The content will be Hugh speaking about his life. He'll be opening up about his life like never before.”
