Max announced on Friday that Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, the Western epic starring Yellowstone’s Kevin Costner, will be landing on the streamer later this month.
The announcement was made on what was supposed to be the theatrical release date for Chapter 2. But after the first Horizon underperformed at the box office — to date, it has grossed $34 million worldwide against a $100 million budget — the first follow-up (of potentially three) got pulled from the schedule.

What Is Horizon: An American Saga About?
The film, which was also created and produced by Costner, “explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won — and lost — through the blood, sweat and tears of many,” according to its official synopsis. The movie spans from 1861 to 1865, the four years of the Civil War and follows the “emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends, and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.”
