Honey Badger's dirty Bachelor secret revealed

Nick Cummins famously shocked Australia last year when he picked no one at The Bachelor finale.

Now Brooke Blurton, who placed third on the 2018 season, has revealed the Honey Badger’s big dirty secret.

Tonight’s premiere episode of Bachelor In Paradise showed Brooke tell some of her female co-stars that Nick’s devastating decision to stay single at the end of the show was no last-minute decision.

In fact, she knew before anyone else, and it was the real reason she decided to walk away on her own terms before the rose ceremony had commenced.

“My last date with Nic, we were on a motorbike. I thought there was chemistry there,” she told Alisha, Cat and Cass as they settled into paradise in Fiji.

“Then he stopped the cameras and smothered his mic to tell me he wasn’t going to pick anyone in the end.”

Boom. There it was.

When the other girls asked Brooke why she hadn’t warned grand finalists Jess and Sophie about Nick’s lack of commitment, Brooke said, “He told me not to tell anyone and I protected him”.

“I couldn’t tell the other girls and I felt that was really s**t,” she admitted.

“I don’t regret the decision to leave. I don’t want to be with someone who’s not committed. I’m not going to waste my time and I feel like that’s what he did to us.”

“It’s really hurtful,” said Alisha. “Why would you take these two beautiful women to New Caledonia if you’re just planning to say, ‘No thanks’?”

When speaking to producers, Brooke revealed Nic “pretty much just broke my heart and made me feel like I have to keep the secret”.

But now it was time for her to let her co-stars and the rest of Australia know.

With the revelation also came an opportunity to take a big swipe at her reality TV ex.

“As the Bachelor, you know what you’re going in for,” she said.

“You know and should be in that point in your life that you want to spend time with someone and I feel like Nic was definitely not in that space and it was definitely a s**t move being the Bachelor.”

When speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle Australia, Brooke explained that it was once she got to Fiji that she decided to spill the beans.

“I didn’t realise it was eating at me till I got to Paradise and it starting to be on my mind a lot more,” she tells us.

“I thought, ‘They need to know this’,” she explains. “It’s something on my mind and I’m a pretty open and honest person.”

Bachelor In Paradise continues on Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel Ten.
