Home & Away star's heartbreaking open letter to 13-year-old self

Home & Away and Pretty Little Liars star Tammin Sursok has left her followers emotional after she posted a heartbreaking letter online to her 13-year-old self.

Tammin, who is the mum of two daughters, posted a picture to her Instagram account, showing herself as a teenager, beaming while sitting in the bath.

“The boy standing in front of you will break you. He will break your heart in ways you never thought possible,” Tammin started her post.

“He will embarrass you as you feel the stares of awkward prepubescent males all stifling a hearty laugh.”

She goes on to tell her 13-year-old self that the boy she desires will end up mortifying her in front of everyone and calling her ‘fat’, before parading away.

Tammin recalls a time when she ‘became the punchline again’ after slipping when she tried to dive into the pool and coming up for air only to hear everyone laughing at her.

“I see that girl. She will spend your school years antagonizing you, she will make it her duty to beat you down, trying to suck from a straw any self respect you might have. Distracting herself will deflect the self loathing she feels for herself but you wont know that just yet,” Tammin continued.

She went on to say that the girl ends up stealing her first love and bullying her about it.

But one day she told her teenage self that she ‘will change’ and she ‘will realise unhappiness is the most powerful pipeline to hate’.

“But I’m here, standing on the sidelines, looking at you, my 13-year-old self, and I want you to know you’re going to be more than okay.”

Tammin’s 1.2 million followers applauded her for sharing her struggles as a teenager, with Aussie supermodel, Megan Gale, saying: “So sad and beautiful all at once. Thank you for sharing.”

Others said they too were bullied as teenagers and wished their 13-year-old self knew what was in store for them in the future.

“You are extremely inspiring thank you for this. I am only 13 and reading this has only helped me more,” a follower said.
