Hollywood Squares Reboot Premiere Delayed at CBS Due to California Fires — Find Out When It Will Air
CBS has made a last-minute tweak to tonight’s primetime schedule, delaying the planned premiere of its Hollywood Squares reboot due to recent wildfires that have ravaged Los Angeles.
Hollywood Squares will now debut next Thursday, Jan. 16, at 8/7c. The delay has been attributed to the game show’s comedy-driven dynamic, which did not feel tonally appropriate amid coverage of the ongoing California devastation.

Hollywood Squares, which has aired multiple iterations since its debut on NBC back in 1966, is a game show in which two contestants play tic-tac-toe to win cash and prizes. Each square on their board, though, is occupied by a different celebrity, who is asked a question by the player; the contestant must then decide whether the celebrity’s answer is correct.
Following its series premiere on Jan. 16, CBS’ reboot will move to Wednesdays beginning Jan. 29, where it will air as part of CBS Game Night and follow new episodes of The Price Is Right at Night and Raid the Cage. Nate Burleson (CBS Mornings) hosts the latest version of the series, with actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore taking center square.
Also on Thursday, the NBA postponed its planned game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets as a result of the wildfires; get full details here.
